My experiments with my hair

Decided to style my hair with a side plait and the fringe. Big earrings, kohl lined eyes and my nerdy glasses complete the look.

What do you guys think about it ?

Summer haircut

Recently got a haircut. Love it a lot! I have been wanting to experiment with my hair for a long time and summer gave me the perfect opportunity. Though a tad bit difficult to maintain., the fringe especially, I still adore it.
Hope you like it too.

Comfy harem pants can look good too

So, I recently travelled to Australia and New Zealand.  Hence the lapse in posting. Anyway,  now that I am back, here is one of my travel wears. The blue embroidered harem pants combined with the grey top from Mango, the necklace from Accesorize, the red hat I picked up at Covent Garden in London and shoes I picked up at Sydney is perfect for visiting Bondi beach.
Fun, fashionable and comfortable.

Collar neckpiece

My friend Supraja bought this really nice gold collar neckpiece from Lokhandwala and teamed it with her blue dress from Ginger. I think it looks brilliant! What about you?

Little drops of the ocean

So, I have a recently developed a huge fascination for pearls. I think they make any and every dress look elegant. I like to buy them as and when I can. Or sometimes *borrow* them from my mom. My mom has an even wider range of pearls than I do. And I have successfully convinced her to gift some of them to me.

One of the basic necessities of owning pearl jewellery is according to me a long string of pearls and short neckpiece with two pearl studs. That should be the initiation of any girl into pearldom. After that, you can start experimenting with your pearls. Like the silver earrings I got from Curio Cottage in Bombay. Or the pearl and stone necklace.

Other than experimenting with stones and metals, you can also experiment with the shapes and colors of pearls. Like my pink pearls or the rice pearls from the Charminar city, Hyderabad.

The last word in pearls is of course the Chanel Pearls. So beautiful.

So, go out there. And get pearled up.

You know you want to.

Put a ring on it!

I am a big fan of cocktails and cocktail rings and I believe the quirkier the better (applies to both the drink and the ring). You can wear them to add bling to the most boring and simple outfits and in case of rings its always good to be a little too much. Here are some of my favorites:

  1. The first one is in the popular owl motif which can be seen everywhere these days. I got it from Linking Road in Mumbai and I like it because of the turquoise stone in the middle
  2. This is not exactly a cocktail ring but the beautiful branch in gold makes it different. I got this from Accessorize in Singapore
  3. I love the color of this ring and inspite of being big it looks pretty delicate because of the pink. i got this one from Hill Road from the shop mentioned in this post
  4. This was my first ring which i got from Aldo in Mumbai a couple of years back. I love the green eyes with the white shell
  5. This one is my favorite. Its my mom's old ring which she got from Kashmir 35 years back. I love the deep purple semi precious stones and the best part is that it gives a luxe touch to any outfit

Shopping Destinations: Hill Road

I discovered this tiny shop selling gorgeous accessories on Hill Road in Bandra, Mumbai a couple of years ago. Its the last shop in the street right opposite Elco. The best part about this shop is that they have the surplus stuff from Accessorize and Aldo and its pretty cheap (necklaces are around 350-450 and earrings are around 150-250) so you can buy lots of stuff.

  1. A very much on trend collar. I like how the shape is diffferent from what you usually see in collars and also the rectangular black stone in the middle
  2. I love this necklace with black stones. I got a very Victorian vibe from it and was reminded of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. I still can't decide what to wear with it
  3. An orange and gold necklace. I love the alternating gold and orange color and can't wait for an occasion to wear it

Yellow Fever

I have had a sudden affliction of yellow fever. No, not the dangerous medical kind. I am talking about the fun fashionable kind. I have fallen completely in love with all shades of yellow. I really like having it on my clothes. The bright color can brighten up even the gloomiest of days. I made a recent purchase of mustard jeans as you can so clearly tell by the smug grin on my face.
I like pairing my mustard jeans with my electric blue sky high heels and an electric blue top. For accessories, I like something heavy in gold like the knotted neckpiece I am wearing, a simple black and gold chain purse and my favorite watch. I'm wearing my favorite coral color on my lips and my hair is left to be its usual wild curly self.

You know you want the fever.

Paint that pout pink

Its hot and its bright.
And just so right!

Just look at those lips. Aren't they absolutely perfect. There, I've said it. I'm absolutely and utterly in love with fuschia lips right now. That traffic stopping lip color. I think its the best thing to have happened to my lips since my coral lip fixation.
This trend keeps cropping up from time to time and hits the sweet spot with me everytime. You'd think I would be bored of this color considering that its not exactly a new trend. But nope.
The color seems to work on any complexion. Its just such a bright happy color and can add that much needed pop of color to an otherwise grey dress.
Fuschia lips are much more feminine compared to the dominatrix appeal of red. They can give the girlie, flirty and young feel to a woman of any age.
This trend first appeared on the runway for Marc Jacobs S/S 10 show and since then has never quite left it. And I hope it doesn't. The world is a much better place with fuschia lips.

I like to keep my make up low-key when using this lip color to allow the lipstick to be the star. Kohl-rimmed eyes and a matte foundation usually do it for me. My favorite is Maybelline Colorsensational - Fuschia Fever. So go be pinkalicious!

You know you want it.

Special thanks to my friend Anna for being such a gorgeous model for this piece.
