Collar neckpiece

My friend Supraja bought this really nice gold collar neckpiece from Lokhandwala and teamed it with her blue dress from Ginger. I think it looks brilliant! What about you?

Because sometimes you just have to wear a saree

The other day, my friend Supraja and I decided to go on a saree date. And it was loads of fun!
Don't you think the saree is one of the best looking piece of clothing ever made for a woman? I don't think anyone can look bad in a saree.

I wore a simple chiffon saree with crystals on it from Nalli with a men's watch from Titan which had a bit of a rusty look and simple turquoise earrings from Accessorize. Teamed it with nude heels and orange nail paint. Nude lipstick and kohl rimmed eyes completed my look.
My friend wore a simple but colorful and bright printed cotton silk saree in brown and green with pretty sea green earrings from Westside. She wore simple chappals and had kohl rimmed eyes.

Time to get the pallu.

Rock Chic

This Christmas I treated myself to a pair of Miss Sixty black leather ballerina flats with silver studs. I love that they add an edge to even a very simple outfit.

Gossip Girl: Memorable Outfits-Part 3

With the series finale of Gossip Girl airing yesterday it seemed fitting to do the final post on the memorable outfits in Gossip Girl. The older posts are available here: Part 1Part 2

Season 5:

Episode 08 ("All the pretty sources")

Blake Lively wore a Mary Katrantzou dress spring 2011. I like that the look is edgier than what we usually see her in. Mary Katrantzou is known for her prints and it is not easy carrying them but Blake is totally rocking it. Her necklace is from Auden and rings are from Roberto Coin and Lulu Frost.

Episode 9 ("Rhodes to Perdition")

Blake Lively shimmered in a Diane Von Furstenberg gown with a gold statement necklace. Her hair is very different from what we usually see her in. I like the styling of Blake better than that of the model. I also liked the cream Boyod dress with gold peacock feathers worn by Kaylee DeFer.

Episode 11 ("The End of the Affair?")

Leighton Meester looked lovely in the white Vera Wang Spring 2011 Gisele dress. You can read the article behind the conceptualisation of this beautiful dress here.

Episode 13 ("G.G")

It was the episode with Blair and Louis wedding. Leighton looked gorgeous in her Vera Wang Fall 2010 Chantilly lace Esther gown but her hair looked a bit too casual for a bride. Blake Lively also looked gorgeous as the maid of honor in her nude Vera Wang Spring 2011 gown.

Episode 19 ("It Girl, Interrupted")

Leighton Meester wore this princess style Oscar de la Renta Resort 2012 gown. The scene on the museum steps with this gorgeous pink ruffeled gown was so romantic.

Episode 21 ("Despicable B")

Leighton Meester wore a gorgeous Elie Saab Fall 2011 black gown with a statement necklace and berry lips. I love the look from head to toe.

Season 6

Episode 5 ("Monsterous Ball")

Both Blake Lively and Leighton Meester looked great in this episode. Blake Lively wore a lovely black Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 gown and carried a Roger Vivier clutch. I love the fishtail braid with the gown it gives that "Serena" touch to the whole look. Leighton wore a Reem Acra Fall 2011 gown. I love the sequins on the gown though I would have liked it better if she had worn just the earrings and no headband.

Episode 10 (""New York, I Love You XOXO"")

Now to the Gossip Girl finale. I am so glad the styling team of Gossip Girl went all out in this episode. Leighton Meester looked stunning in the Elie Saab Spring 2012 gown she wore for her wedding. I love the leafy jewelled head band. This is one of her best looks of the entire season. I also loved that it matched perfectly with Chuck, he wore a white suit with blue lapels and blue bow tie. And Serena also looked awesome "5 years later" in her Georges Chakra Spring 2011 gown. I am so glad the stylists din't opt for conventional wedding gowns for this episode.

Made to Fly

So, being the blind person that I am, I pay a lot of attention to eyewear. I need to buy something that won't make me look like too much of a nerd.
So, I went ahead and bought my first Ray- Bans. I went with the classic aviators. I did have a moment of indecision when it came to choosing between the aviators and the wayfarers. But then, I decided to go with the classic.

So, go on, get those aviators since you know you can never be kept down.

Movies with Fabulous Fashion

I usually decide how good a movie is based on the styling. Devil wears Prada is one of my favorite movies not only because of the awesome story and acting but also because of all the awesome clothes in it. I love the scene which shows Anne Hathaway in different outfits on her way from her apartment to "Runway" after her make over. Also the opening sequence is pretty good.

Here is a list of all the movies with fabulous fashion:

Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

The little black dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the opening sequence of Breakfast at Tiffany's, where she gets out of the cab in front of Tiffany & Co with a danish and coffee in her hand, is one of the most iconic dresses of all times. It was designed by Hubert de Givenchy himself and you can imagine how iconic it was as it was sold for £467,200 pounds in an auction in 2006. The rest of the movie also she looked chic in all her outfits.

Devil wears Prada (2006)

I can go on and on about the outfits worn by both Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep in the movie. If only I could dress like that and go to office everyday. I think Anne Hathaway looks her best in the entire movie at the ball in the Alexander McQueen gown. The red lips and the bangs make the look flawless.

Sex and the City (2008)

Like the TV series the movie also had amazing fashion. Over 300 ensembles were used over the course of the entire movie including a custom wedding dress from Vivienne Westwood. The best thing I like about the movie is that the women have such distinct style reflecting their characters. Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) is daring and fashion forward, Samantha (played by Kim Cattrall) is sexy and provocative, Charlotte (played by Kristin Davis) is classic and feminine and Miranda (played by Cynthia Nixon) is strong and a bit more conservative than the others.

Aisha (2010)

The only Bollywood movie to have amazing fashionable on trend clothes. The movie producers had collaborated with Dior and that is why you can see Sonam Kapoor shopping in Dior and carrying the Lady Dior bag. Sonam Kapoor may not know how to act but she surely knows how to dress.

Gossip Girl: Memorable Outfits-2

I am dedicating an entire post to Season 4 as I love the clothes in this season a lot. The Paris episodes are my all time favorite.

Here are my favorite episodes from Season 4:

Episode 1 ("Belles de Jour")
I loved each and every outfit in this episode. Fabulous fashion set in the City of Lights, what could be more beautiful than that?
The episode started with Blake Lively wearing a beautiful nude George Chakra spring 2010 cage dress with Beatrix Ong leather brogues and a Rag & Bone blazer. The unexpected combination of the feminine dress with the boyfriend blazer and brogues was genius.
Leighton Meester wore a Moschino spring 2010 bubble hem dress with a beret. I love the playful print and that the look is different from what we usually see Blair in.

Episode 2 ("Double Identity")

The scene between Chuck and Blair on the railway station has to the most romantic scene on Gossip Girl. What made the scene even better was Leighton Meester's romantic Oscar de la Renta Pre-fall 2010 red ruffled gown with the gorgeous Harry Winston necklace and Roger Vivier bag.
Blake Lively also looked great in her gold Emilio Pucci Spring 2010 jacket and the electric blue Tibi cropped pants with a Chanel bag. The hair style was a bit weird for my liking but she managed to pull it off.

Episode 3 ("The Undergraduates")
I loved looks worn by Blake Lively and Leighton Meester to FNO in this episode. The black and white printed Jenny Packham Fall 2010 dress with the blue crystal embellishments worn by Blake Lively is was sexy and dramatic. Leighton Meester also looked gorgeous wearing a Valentino Pre Fall 2010 dress with a Badgley Mischka necklace and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. in both the cases I think the actresses look better than the models.

Episode 8 ("Juliet Doesn't Live Here Anymore")
Blake Lively wore a gorgeous grey Zuhair Murad Fall 2010 lace gown with a sheer skirt and a silk draped detail with a Halston clutch. There is just one word to describe this look: Stunning

Episode 15 ("It-Girl Happened One Night")
Leighton Meester stole the show in this episode in her ivory with silver floral details Marchesa gown with a cowl back. Blake Lively also looked great in her Ralph Lauren Black Antonia beaded dress.

Episode 21 ("Shattered Bass")
Leighton Meester looked great wearing a Alexis Mabille Fall 2010 couture gown with gold print and pink floral details. The styling was also perfect.
