New Wedges

Picked these up during a recent shopping trip. Can't stop wearing them everywhere I go. Other than the fact that they are pretty, they are also super comfortable.
Looking forward to wearing them again very soon.

Gifts from New Zealand

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was visiting New Zealand and Australia. And with travel comes shopping.
So, I picked up these jade earrings and a black pearl pendant from New Zealand. The black pearl pendant is one of my favorites from all the shopping I did.
For all of those planning to visit New Zealand,  I would recommend picking up black pearl, jade, blue pearl and paua shell jewellery. They look amazing and you know you would be taking a bit of New Zealand back with you.

Collar neckpiece

My friend Supraja bought this really nice gold collar neckpiece from Lokhandwala and teamed it with her blue dress from Ginger. I think it looks brilliant! What about you?

Made to Fly

So, being the blind person that I am, I pay a lot of attention to eyewear. I need to buy something that won't make me look like too much of a nerd.
So, I went ahead and bought my first Ray- Bans. I went with the classic aviators. I did have a moment of indecision when it came to choosing between the aviators and the wayfarers. But then, I decided to go with the classic.

So, go on, get those aviators since you know you can never be kept down.

Little drops of the ocean

So, I have a recently developed a huge fascination for pearls. I think they make any and every dress look elegant. I like to buy them as and when I can. Or sometimes *borrow* them from my mom. My mom has an even wider range of pearls than I do. And I have successfully convinced her to gift some of them to me.

One of the basic necessities of owning pearl jewellery is according to me a long string of pearls and short neckpiece with two pearl studs. That should be the initiation of any girl into pearldom. After that, you can start experimenting with your pearls. Like the silver earrings I got from Curio Cottage in Bombay. Or the pearl and stone necklace.

Other than experimenting with stones and metals, you can also experiment with the shapes and colors of pearls. Like my pink pearls or the rice pearls from the Charminar city, Hyderabad.

The last word in pearls is of course the Chanel Pearls. So beautiful.

So, go out there. And get pearled up.

You know you want to.

Charms

I love charm bracelets and necklaces. I like that you can add charms that reflect your likes, interests travels etc. It is my dream to get a tiny blue box with a charm bracelet from Tiffany but for now I have to make do with High Street brands. Here a few of my favorite accessories with Charms:

  1. The first one is a necklace I got from Accessorize in London. I love the quirkiness of the necklace and also the charms with the passport and plane
  2. The second is a bracelet, I dont love the charms that much but I really like the combination of the chain with the black leather interlocked with it and also the clasp

Latest additions to my collection

I got a few more accessories from my favorite Hill Road shop (here):

  1. The first one is a pair of green and gold earrings. I love the combination of the two colors, it always looks rich and is perfect for the winter. I also like the curved gold connecting thing in between the two stones.
  2. The second is a pair of really pale pink earrings. They are neutral in color and style so can be paired with anything.

Put a ring on it!

I am a big fan of cocktails and cocktail rings and I believe the quirkier the better (applies to both the drink and the ring). You can wear them to add bling to the most boring and simple outfits and in case of rings its always good to be a little too much. Here are some of my favorites:

  1. The first one is in the popular owl motif which can be seen everywhere these days. I got it from Linking Road in Mumbai and I like it because of the turquoise stone in the middle
  2. This is not exactly a cocktail ring but the beautiful branch in gold makes it different. I got this from Accessorize in Singapore
  3. I love the color of this ring and inspite of being big it looks pretty delicate because of the pink. i got this one from Hill Road from the shop mentioned in this post
  4. This was my first ring which i got from Aldo in Mumbai a couple of years back. I love the green eyes with the white shell
  5. This one is my favorite. Its my mom's old ring which she got from Kashmir 35 years back. I love the deep purple semi precious stones and the best part is that it gives a luxe touch to any outfit

Shopping Destinations: Hill Road

I discovered this tiny shop selling gorgeous accessories on Hill Road in Bandra, Mumbai a couple of years ago. Its the last shop in the street right opposite Elco. The best part about this shop is that they have the surplus stuff from Accessorize and Aldo and its pretty cheap (necklaces are around 350-450 and earrings are around 150-250) so you can buy lots of stuff.

  1. A very much on trend collar. I like how the shape is diffferent from what you usually see in collars and also the rectangular black stone in the middle
  2. I love this necklace with black stones. I got a very Victorian vibe from it and was reminded of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. I still can't decide what to wear with it
  3. An orange and gold necklace. I love the alternating gold and orange color and can't wait for an occasion to wear it

Shopping Destinations: Linking Road

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/4240201/?claim=qr6fy3nh8kq">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>
One of my favorite budget places to shop in Mumbai is linking road. The clothes are passable but I love the crowded little stalls selling the shoes.

I like shoes with a traditional twist to it especially the kolhapuris in cool colors. They go perfect with just a white shirt and a pair of blue jeans.I picked up two pairs of shoes this time. A pair of ballerina flats with a traditional print covered with clear sequins giving it a faint shimmer.

I also got a pair of blue kolhapuris with neon embroidery.

Cuff it!-2

A cuff can add glamour to any simple outfit and also reflect your personality. If you are a biker chic girl then you can wear one in leather with studs or something metallic and if you are a girly girl you can wear one with lace or beads and charms.
Here is my favorite cuff in oxidized silver from Forever 21:

Cuff it!

Picked it up at Edinburgh. Love it. Especially love the way it fits and looks on my arm.
Wear it when I'm too lazy to pick out accessories. Seems to go with any color and dress. Adds just the necessary amount of glam.

You know you want to cuff yourselves.

Yellow Fever

I have had a sudden affliction of yellow fever. No, not the dangerous medical kind. I am talking about the fun fashionable kind. I have fallen completely in love with all shades of yellow. I really like having it on my clothes. The bright color can brighten up even the gloomiest of days. I made a recent purchase of mustard jeans as you can so clearly tell by the smug grin on my face.
I like pairing my mustard jeans with my electric blue sky high heels and an electric blue top. For accessories, I like something heavy in gold like the knotted neckpiece I am wearing, a simple black and gold chain purse and my favorite watch. I'm wearing my favorite coral color on my lips and my hair is left to be its usual wild curly self.

You know you want the fever.

Current Obsession: Mint

I am currently obsessed with everything Mint or Turqouise. I know it is more of a spring/summer color than fall but in Chennai it is always summer so I feel like wearing it all year round. It's flattering on everyone and it will surely brighten up your day.

Here are some of my favorite Mint accessories:

I got this bangle from Forever 21 in Singapore. I love the tiny bow detail.

I love these Chandelier earrings as they add a pop of color to any outfit. I like to pair them with an all black outfit with my hair in a top knot.

I got these earrings from Accessorize ages back but I still wear them a lot. They are perfect to wear to the office with a Kurti.

I got this oversized clutch from Accessorize during sale. It is a statement piece and I like to keep rest of the outfit simple whenever I carry it.

And finally mint nails!!

Fashion Essentials: première partie

Everyone has fashion essentials. Everyone should have them. Be it your loose red shorts you spend your Sunday lounging in or be it those towering electric blue heels which give you shoe bites (what's a bit of pain when it comes to looking good!)
I think, fashion essentials vary depending on the place you live at. I mean, my black coat and leather boots would be my fashion cannot-do-withouts when I am in London. But, c'mon. I'd have to be a lunatic to wear a black coat and walk around in a place where winter never arrives.
So, here goes, my fashion essential list for Bombay to help me stay fabulous and chic:

1. My Black heels
Make that all the pair of black heels that I own. I have 4 pairs. Not too much right? Yeah, they are, when you end up having to pay extra baggage for extra pairs of shoes. I have formals, I have sky high, I have lace, I have peep-toe; sigh.
And trust me, the moment I see another black pair, I am going to have very little self restraint to keep me from picking them up.

2. The color red
Yeah, I have a major fetish for the color red. I love red shoes, red lipstick, red nailpaint, red dresses and of course, red does look very very good if taken further.
Can you imagine the world without the color red? You wear an absolutely drab dress in brown or some equally boring pastel shade and smear some red lipstick or paint your nails red and you'll still make heads turn. Oh, and don't even get me started on red heels.

3. Lace
I remember my friend telling me she would disown me if I went after any more lace. I have lace in every form of clothing you can think of. And since that wasn't enough, I went ahead and bought some shoes with lace too. Pretty much everyone has had enough of me and my lace. But I haven't been able to get rid of this addiction. Not that I am trying either.

4. Coral Lipstick
This is fairly new love of mine. But I think its going to stick with me for
sometime, like every little thing I usually pick up does.
I absolutely adore coral lips. And in the Bombay sun, it just seems to be such a perfect match.

5. LBD
Last but not the least, my little black dress. I mean, it has to be there on the list.
Immortalized by Audrey Hepburn, adored by millions, making women all over
the world feel beautiful is the little black dress.  I am not even going to say why
its on my list of fashion essentials.
I like pairing mine with pearls or a single stone pendant. And my black heels.
And a tweed jacket. Classy. Always!

Well, that's my five fashion essentials. For Bombay.
You know you want them.
